Kendriya Vidyalaya Picket came in to existence on 1st July 1964 when Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan took over the Air force School in Picket. The students and teachers of the feeding school were absorbed into KVS. The school made a humble beginning with about 50 students in classes VI to IX and ten teachers. There was no primary wing.
